Rape incidents are consistently increasing in the country as the statistics compiled by the Ministry of Human Rights in 2021 showed over 14,000 rape cases reported in Pakistan during the last four years.
The statistics had been provided to the National Assembly by the Ministry of Human Rights on the basis of the information provided by the National Police Bureau which showed that 16,153 cases of sexual violence against women and workplace harassment were reported.
It may be noted here that the country had passed the Anti-Rape (Investigation and Trial) Act 2021 last year to establish special courts and the use of modern devices during investigation and trial in rape cases.
