The England squad has paid tribute to a young footballer who died after suffering suspected a systole during a game last week.

Dylan Rich collapsed during an FA Youth Cup match between West Bridgford Colts and Boston United in Nottinghamshire on Thursday.

The 17-year-old is assumed to possess suffered the second asystole while being transported to the hospital before death on Sunday.

Ahead of their World Cup qualifier against Poland in Warsaw on Wednesday night, the Three Lions squad paid their own tribute to Rich.

Captain Harry Kane led the way in holding up a 3 Lions shirt that read “For Dylan” because the squad had their pre-match photo taken.

Rich attended The West Bridgford School and headteacher Tim Peacock said: “We are a faculty in mourning.

“We have lost an exquisite, much-loved, talented member of our community. This loss is going to be felt deeply by many of us.

“At the instant, our focus is on supporting his family, friends, classmates, and teachers through this difficult time.”

In a statement earlier in the week, the Football Association (FA) said they were “deeply saddened by the tragic news”.

They said: “We send our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and everybody at the club at this very difficult time.”
