HBL PSL 8: Gladiators lost by Qalandars even after taking 7 wickets for 50 runs

The series of failures of Quetta Gladiators could not stop in Pakistan Super League Season 8. In the 18th match of PSL 8, despite Lahore Qalandars getting 7 players out for 50 runs, Quetta Gladiators lost the match by 17 runs.

Thanks to Sikandar Raza’s responsible innings, Lahore Qalandars scored 148 runs in 19.2 overs.

In the match played at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore, Quetta Gladiators won the toss and decided to field and Lahore playing first gave Quetta a target of 149 runs to win.

After that, Sikandar Raza played an unbeaten inning of 71 runs with the help of 3 sixes and 8 fours to take the team’s score to 148. The Lahore Qalandars team was bowled out for 148 runs in 19.2 overs. Sikandar Raza 71, Rashid Khan 21, Shaheen Afridi 16 and Abdullah Shafiq scored 15 runs. Hussain Talat scored 6 and Fakhar Zaman scored 4 runs. Tahir Baig, Sam Billings and David Vissa scored 2 runs apiece. Haris Rauf was dismissed for zero.

Naveen ul Haq and Muhammad Nawaz took 2, 2 while Naseem Shah, Odin Smith and Umeed Asif got one wicket each.

On behalf of Quetta, Will Asmead scored 32 runs off 25 balls and captain Sarfaraz Ahmed scored 27 runs off 28 balls. Sarfaraz remained not out but could not win the team. Haris Rauf dismissed 3 players and Rashid Khan dismissed 2 players. Sikandar Raza, who made Lahore’s score to 148 runs by batting responsibly after losing 7 wickets for 50 runs, was declared the best player of the match.

It should be noted that Lahore Qalandars are at the top with 10 points after playing 5 out of 6 matches and their path is paved to reach the playoffs. Quetta Gladiators have won only 1 out of 6 matches and are at the bottom position.
