In order to end the ongoing political confrontation, 186 members of the Punjab Assembly voted to express their confidence in Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi. The real conflict will start now when Imran Khan will ask to dissolve the assembly and Pervaiz Elahi will refuse.
Late in the night, Chaudhry Pervez Elahi received a vote of confidence from 186 members for the Punjab Chief Ministership. Meanwhile, opposition parties including PML-N boycotted the voting and walked out of the House.
According to the constitution, the speaker of the Punjab Assembly rang the bells to call the members of the assembly to the house and the meeting was adjourned till 12:05. Speaker Sabatin Khan read out the official decree and directed the ministers to submit the resolution.
Senior Minister of Punjab Raja Basharat and Mian Aslam Iqbal presented the resolution in the House regarding obtaining the vote of confidence. Before the proceedings, the bells rang for 5 minutes and then the doors of the House were also closed.
After the presentation of the resolution, the voting process started, during which all the government members of the Punjab Assembly exercised their right to vote. When the resolution was presented, the opposition created a ruckus.
The opposition surrounded the Speaker’s dais and chanted slogans, and walked out of the House. The opposition protested outside the House and also broke the lobby door, however the proceedings of the House continued.
After the counting of votes, Speaker PA congratulated CM Pervaiz for taking the vote of confidence.
While thanking Imran Khan, Asad Umar and Shah Mehmood Qureshi on this occasion, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi said that they have full faith in Imran Khan and they will fulfill his hopes. He added that the politics of PML-N and PPP is over in Punjab.
He said that they will do so much work in Punjab that the name of PML-N will be erased. CM Pervaiz said that the Ehsaas program will be taken forward and free treatment facilities will be provided.
Commenting on getting the vote of confidence from the Punjab Assembly, analysts have said that the real conflict will start now when PTI Chairman Imran Khan will ask CM Pervaiz to dissolve the assembly.
Because in the match so far, both of them have played lively batting and bowling. Now let’s see how to deal with the issue of dissolution of the assembly. While today, CM Pervaiz is likely to reach Zaman Park to meet Imran Khan at any time, they said.
