Imran Khan visited Sukkur on April 16 and opened the exchequer for 14 underdeveloped districts of Sindh with a gigantic package worth Rs 440 billion

Prime Minister Imran Khan has announced a development package for Sindh but the question that looms large in the heads of the natives of the province is whether it is going be materialize and meet the same old fate.

Imran Khan visited Sukkur on April 16 and opened the exchequer for 14 underdeveloped districts of Sindh with a gigantic package worth Rs 440 billion.

He addressed a ceremony in connection with the government’s flagship Kamyab Jawan program.

He claimed that the effects of the package will be visible in a month and that the projects would be aimed at developing the skills of the youth.

The package promises the construction of the Nai Gaj dam for irrigation of 28,800 acres of land and the 306-kilometer long Sukkur-Hyderabad motorway.

Rehabilitation of 200,000 acres of land will provide employment opportunities for the natives of the underdeveloped districts.

The package envisages gas supply to 160 villages and provision of 30,000 electricity connections every year.

However, despite announcements exist the curiosity if the prime minister would keep his words this time.

Imran Khan’s words

In his Karachi visit in March 2019, Prime Minister Imran Khan announced a package of Rs 162 billion for 18 different development projects related to clean drinking water, transport and sewerage system.

He made another visit to Karachi in September 2020 in which he announced a historic package worth Rs 1,100 billion for the megacity.

It included completion of K-4 water project, Karachi Circular Railway (KCR), Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), and road projects.

However, the locals of Karachi haven’t witnessed the materialization of the projects in a true sense.

Sindh government is annoyed

Sindh Government Spokesperson Murtaza Wahab said that the Prime Minister did not even invite the chief minister.

He recalled that Imran Khan had previously promised several development schemes for Sindh but they failed to materialize.

In a mocking manner, Murtaza Wahab suggested that the prime minister’s name should be renamed to “Ailaan Khan” (announcement Khan).

Further, Sindh Transport Minister Owais Shah also held a presser at Sukkur Press Club (SPC).

He asked Imran Khan, “What have you given to Sindh?”

He added that such kind of promises on part of Imran Khan was a routine.

Shah claimed that the youth of Sindh was included in the Kamyab Nowjawan program but they were rejected in the end on different pretexts.
