Imran’s unlawful wedding case: Maneka’s domestic help statement recorded

A district and sessions court in Islamabad heard the case of an unlawful marriage between PTI leader Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi during iddat.

Senior Civil Judge Qudratullah heard the case against the former first couple on Tuesday.

During the hearing, Bushra’s ex-husband Khawar Manika’s domestic servant Muhammad Latif recorded his statement after which the statements of all four prosecution witnesses of the case were recorded.

Muhammad Latif recorded his statement in the presence of the petitioner’s lawyer Rizwan Abbasi.

In his statement, Mohammad Latif said that the former PTI chairman used to come to Bushra Bibi’s house and he used to go to the room with Bushra Bibi.

He said that when he used to go to Bushra Bibi’s room, the former chairman of PTI used to abuse him and told him to go out of the room.

After recording his statement, the court adjourned the hearing of the case till December 8 and sought arguments regarding whether the case is admissible or not.

It should be noted that Muhammad Latif Khawar is Maneka’s domestic help and the statement of Aoun Chaudhry and Mufti Saeed has already been recorded in the unlawful marriage case.

Earlier, Khawar Maneka made allegations that the Imran-Bushra marriage took place before the passing of Iddat – a mandatory isolation period for a divorced woman under Islam.

Maneka said Bushra married Imran one-and-a-half months after their divorce in Nov 2017.

Imran had married Bushra in Jan 2018, while she would have been observing Iddat, but the pictures of their wedding were released on Feb 18 in a bid to hide the marriage from the public eye, according to a newspaper report in March 2018.

He added that after their first meeting, the two had started meeting frequently in the federal capital.

Maneka said that Bushra would also meet the PTI chief at his (Maneka’s) house at Bani Gala without his permission.
