GoAir, a private low-cost Indian airline, fired its pilot over his allegedly abusive and offensive remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The senior GoAir pilot, Miki Malik, is an Indian Air Force (IAF) veteran who served in the IAF for 25 years.

Captain Miki Malik seemingly made a disparaging comment in his tweet regarding Indian PM, “PM is an idiot. You can call me same in return. It’s ok. I don’t matter. Bcoz I am not PM. But PM is an idiot. Period”.

The captain later deleted his tweet and locked his Twitter account.

He also posted an apology, “I apologize for my tweets about PM, other offensive tweets which may have hurt sentiments of anyone associated. I convey that GoAir is not associated with any of my tweets directly or indirectly as they were personal views”.

However, the action of the Indian pilot against Modi was labeled against the company’s zero-tolerance policy towards insensitive and derogatory comments that ended up such that he was fired by the airline for violating policies.

“GoAir has a zero-tolerance policy and it is mandatory for all GoAir employees to comply with the company’s employment rules, regulations, and policies, including social media behavior. The airline does not associate itself with personal views expressed by any individual or an employee,” the airline spokesperson said.

India private airline GoAir has terminated the pilot who served in the IAF for 25 years and was also employed by Air Costa and Invision Air.

The termination of the Indian pilot shows that the Modi government is not ready to take any criticism from its public.
