In a shocking video statement, an Indian lawmaker from Jharkhand Congress Irfan Ansari has promised to construct roads smoother than the cheeks of Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut.
A video has also surfaced on social media which is being widely shared by netizens and Indian politicians with criticism, terming it inappropriate, sexist and insulting.
The remarks delivered by Irfan Ansari, a Congress MLA from Jamtara, comparing roads with Bollywood actress’ cheeks sparked outrage online, especially among Bharatiya Janata Party politicians as Kangana Ranaut is considered as a strong supporter of the ruling political party who may campaign for BJP in the upcoming elections.
The Congress lawmaker said in the video, “Construction of 14 world-class roads will begin soon in Jamatara. I assure you that the roads will be smoother than the cheeks of film actress Kangana Ranaut.’

However, Ranaut has not responded to Ansari’s remarks.

According to Indian media reports, Ansari is not the first one to draw an analogy of roads with film actors’ cheeks, last month Maharashtra minister and senior Shiv Sena leader Gulabrao Patil compared the smoothness of roads in Jalgaon district to Hema Malini’s cheeks.
Back in 2005, RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav had also promised the residents of Bihar to make the roads smooth as Hema’s cheeks, Times of India reported.
Rajasthan minister Rajendra Singh Gudha courted controversy after saying that roads in his constituency would be made like Katrina Kaif’s cheeks.
