A wall of hatred was erected between East Pakistan and West Pakistan. The propaganda of hatred and exploitation of East Pakistan was spread among the people of East Pakistan. In fact, after the formation of Pakistan, the Center set up industries in the eastern part of the country.
Investment was made in East Pakistan at that time, dams were built, jute and tea industry developed significantly. The search for oil and gas accelerated, and Orient Airlines was established to connect East and West Pakistan, which later became PIA.
Contrary to the facts, India hid the truth and misled the world. India did not miss any opportunity. After independence, ports were built in East Pakistan, refineries, hydropower projects were started and in 1949 Chittagong Tea Auction Center was set up.
At the time of Partition of India, there was no jute mill in East Pakistan but with the investment of West Pakistan, East Pakistan became the largest jute mill in the world in 1950.
Natural gas was discovered in East Pakistan in 1955 and 7 gas fields became operational in 1960 and became the headquarters of oil companies in Chittagong. The Kaptai Dam Hydroelectric Project was founded in 1965 with US assistance and Dhaka made significant progress compared to other cities. The development of Chittagong Port, Chandra Ghona Paper Mills, Railways, Road, Airline and River Networks was made possible with the help of the Center.
Not only that, half of the members of President Ayub’s cabinet and most of the secretaries were from East Pakistan. Thus the impression that West Pakistan exploited East Pakistan is shattered. In fact, the natural calamities and the famine of 1943 had so badly affected East Pakistan that it was not possible to recover quickly.
