Islooites-Karachiites Engage in ‘First Open Air Cinema’ Debate
Karachiites are trolling over the idea of claiming ‘first city Islamabad’ to have a car cinema
WEB DESK: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has announced to open a drive-in cinema in Islamabad.
Islamabad District Commissioner (DC) Hamza Shafqaat hinted about the plan while replying to a Twitter user who earlier requested the launch of a car cinema in the capital territory.
Islooites are in for a treat as during the pandemic, people are forced to maintain social distance with almost zero outdoor activities, this initiative can keep citizens entertained during the lockdown.
However, Karachiites are trolling over claims of locals of Islamabad that it was the first city to have an open air screening facility. ‘first city Islamabad’ to have a car cinema.
Trolling took off online on Twitter by the locals of the largest city declaring that Karachi had witnessed car cinemas way back in 1980s.
First city? Karachi had two drive in cinemas in the late 1970s. The first of those appeared on the map in the 60s if I am not wrong or even before that.

I don’t think so not the first Pakistan city to get it. Karachi had a drive in cinema probably two decades ago.
