Jimmy Greaves: Football Legend Has Died at Essex Home at 81
Former England, Tottenham and Chelsea striker Jimmy Greaves has died at the age of 81, Spurs said.
In May 2015, he suffered a stroke that resulted in him being in a wheelchair and having severe language problems. Tottenham said Jimmy Greaves died at his home on Sunday morning.
The Premier League club said in a statement: “We are very sad to hear of the death of the great Jimmy Greaves, not just Tottenham’s top scorer, but the best scorer this country has ever seen.
” Jimmy died to Home early in the morning, 81 years old.

“During his wonderful career, Jimmy’s batting average has been phenomenal. His return from Spurs was 266 goals in 379 appearances between 1961 and 1970, 220 goals in 321 league games, 32 goals in 36 FA Cup draws, five in just eight league games to qualify for the Cup and nine in 14 European games.
In response to Jimmy Greaves’ death on Sky Sports News, former Tottenham midfielder Jamie O’Hara said, “We’re going to witness this (pain) today, everyone will see and incredible applause for him (at Tottenham versus Chelsea).
“It’s not easy to build a legacy in a club, Jimmy was an icon, a football legend, the Spurs were very fortunate to have a great player in their club.
Greaves, a member of the 1966 England World Cup, scored 44 Absolute goals in 57 appearances for the Three Lions.
His career began in Chelsea’s youth and turned pro in May 1957. He scored one goal on his blues debut and scored a total of 132 goals for the club. After a single season in Milan, he moved to Spurs in 1961 to play for Bill Nicholson’s successful team.
Tottenham’s testimony went on: “Even though we had just won the double, there is no doubt that Jimmy’s arrival at N17 made us even better.” Team.
