‘PTI lost 5 seats’: Journalist Fawad Ali clears misunderstanding regarding Punjab by-polls
A journalist Fawad Ali Chaudhry responded to the theory by a comprehensive comparison between the 2018 general elections and 2022 by-election results in the 20 constituencies.

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) senior leader Yousaf Raza Gillani, some politicians and analysts said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has lost five seats in the Punjab by-elections.
A journalist Fawad Ali Chaudhry responded to the theory by a comprehensive comparison between the 2018 general elections and 2022 by-election results in the 20 constituencies.
Talking to the media yesterday, PPP’s Yousaf Raza Gillani said that the process of elections decides the winner or loser while PTI has won 15 seats out of 20 as a result of Sunday’s by-elections which clearly means that PTI has lost 5. He said that Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Asif Ali Zardari have decided to not leave the coalition government under any circumstances.
Journalist Fawad Ali Chaudhry closely observed all the constituencies and issued a complete report on 20 constituencies.
Fawad Ali Chaudhry said in a Twitter thread, “PTI has won 15 out of 20 seats in the By-Elections (2022) of Punjab. Some of the analysts are of the view that all these seats belonged to PTI in 2018 and in contrast to that, PTI lost 5 of them in 2022. Let’s do a comparison of both these elections to find the truth.”

PML-N apparently won by 49 votes but reportedly, PTI will push for recounting as the margin is too tight and the result was delayed.
He said that the PTI directly won 8 new seats while retaining 7 of their seats, whereas, PML-N won 4 out of which one was lost in the by-elections. One from Rawalpindi is uncertain. 3rd is lost by PTI while 4th is won by an independent candidate.
Calling it a loss of PTI would be untrue as they have managed to bag an extra 8 seats for which they had to rely on independent candidates in 2018.
For PML-N, it is worrisome because most of their seats were in alliance with the parties part of the Pakistan Democratic Movement.
