Irfan Mehr, secretary Sindh Bar Council, was shot dead by unknown assailants in Gulistan-e-Jauhar area of Karachi.
The shooting happened when advocate Irfan Mehr was returning home after dropping off children. Rescuers tried to take him to the hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries on the way.

CCTV footage of the murder of Sindh Bar Council Secretary Irfan Mehr has also come to light in which it can be seen that the accused on a motorbike signaled to stop the vehicle in the middle of the road and opened fire from driving side. It can be seen in the footage that the accused fired six to seven shots at the victim and fled the scene with satisfaction.
The footage also shows two school children riding a motorcycle.
The Bar has declared a complete strike against the murder of Sindh Bar Council Secretary Irfan Mehr and has announced not to appear in the courts.
Karachi: Haider Imam, vice chairman of Sindh Bar Council, while confirming the murder of Irfan Mehr, said that the deceased Irfan Mehr belonged to Sindh Bar Council. He said that Irfan Mehr was taking children from home to school in the morning when he was shot.
The Vice Chairman of Sindh Bar Council further said that Irfan had been performing the duties of Secretary in Sindh Bar Council for the last one year.
Police officials, on the other hand, have visited the spot and collected evidence and launched an investigation into various aspects. Police officials said that CCTV footage would be used to track down the culprits and all available resources would be used to nab them.
