Karachi Turning As City Of Encroachments From Lights

Karachi and encroachments have gone hand in hand for since long as the beauty of the city's urban center has been marred

The measures taken by the Sindh government for the removal of encroachments in the center of Karachi have proved to be counterproductive and leaves an impression that the government is backing encroachers as the walking street near Empress market.

One of the main markets located in the heart of Karachi, Empress Market, was made free of encroachments on the orders of the Supreme Court (SC).

However, the encroachers, unwary of administrative action, have sprung up once again on Ali Talpur Road near Empress Market.

For an attractive outlook, the Sindh government had installed a shaded-path along Ali Talpur Road for pedestrians.

This walking path has caused more trouble as the area where the movement was easy is now obstructed.

Not just for vehicles, the movement of pedestrians has also become difficult as the hawkers have set up their stalls under the metal-shades.

Meanwhile, the sprawling encroachments under the nose of administration have marred the beauty of Karachi.

There is an abundance of encroachments in different areas of Karachi including Saddar, Liaquatabad, and Teen Hatti where the traffic remains congested, leaving road-users in jeopardy.

Sindh government removed encroachments from the backside of the Sindh Secretariat only after the orders of the Supreme Court (SC).

Meanwhile, the anti-encroachment operation against encroachments over storm drains in Mehmoodabad failed as the squatters resisted and pelted stones.
