Kashmir Premier League Launched In Islamabad
The objective of Kashmir Premier League is to initiate a series of cultural and sports events raising the voice of the people of Kashmir
Kashmir Committee Chairman, Shehryar Khan Afridi, launched the Kashmir Premier League (KPL) on Saturday as the first premier cricket tournament of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
The objective of KPL is to initiate a series of cultural and sports events raising the voice of the people of Jammu and Kashmir globally.
Six teams, five from Azad Jammu and Kashmir and one from Kashmiri Diaspora will participate in this T20 format cricket event commencing in Azad Kashmir from April 1 next year.
The event was attended by AJK President Sardar Masood Khan, cricket icon Shahid Afridi who is also the brand ambassador for KPL, KPL Chief Coach Azhar Mahmood, KPL President Arif Malik, and CEO Shehzad Akhtar.

The AJK president, Sardar Masood Khan was hopeful that Kashmir Premier League will provide an opportunity to the Kashmiri youth to showcase their talent through sports.
He added, “It was a great feeling to see Shehryar Afridi supporting Kashmir at all levels. I will leave no stone unturned to make the league a success. Kashmiri people have always loved cricket and the KPL would go a long way to project Kashmir globally. The Kashmiri movement would also support KPL in a big way and it would largely help in projecting Kashmir and its people”.
Aced cricketer Shahid Afridi said that Kashmir is close to his heart and he would love to support the league.
He said: “I have played for many teams throughout my cricketing career, but I would love to play for the KPL to return the love I get from the people of Kashmir.”
The participating teams are Muzaffarabad Tigers, Mirpur Royals, Kotli Panthers, Rawalakot Hawks, Bagh Stallions, and Overseas Warriors.
The official logo titled “Khelo Azadi Say” was also unveiled at the opening ceremony.
