Keep remember! Judiciary becomes independent and military turns neutral

SC landmark verdict proved that ideology of necessity is buried forever, whereas, the verdict also showed neutrality of military institutions.

The historic ruling of the Supreme Court has proved that the ideology of necessity is buried forever, whereas, the verdict also confirmed the impression of neutrality of military institutions.

Ahsan Bhoon, the president of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), said that the ideology of necessity was buried forever after the SC landmark verdict on Thursday.

Political and social circles said that the army and the judiciary have proved their neutrality and no such report has been received till the last moment that there is any pressure on the judiciary. The SC verdict gave disappointment to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporters, whereas, the allies kept reminding the PTI government’s folly and mistakes.

Critics said the PTI has always talked of surprises, but they have been surprised by the Supreme Court’s decision. The unanimous decision of the bench was hailed as a resounding victory over the political and national crisis.

On the other hand, yesterday’s decision proved that the institutions are neutral and they have no role in political interventions or any action. The military spokesman had made it clear that the military was not involved in politics and that the institutions were neutral.

After a clear announcement by the institutions, Prime Minister Imran Khan had publically criticised the institutions for neutrality after the no-confidence motion was tabled.

During March 27 public gathering in Islamabad, the premier had waved a letter out of his pocket and accused the opposition of plotting to overthrow his government with a foreign country.

The NSC had discussed the threat letter and protested with the United States (US) over the the language used in the letter and interference in Pakistan’s internal affairs. Later, PM Khan termed the opposition leaders traitors for being involved in the lettergate.

Opposition leaders including Shahbaz Sharif, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Maryam Nawaz had demanded clarification of their position from the institutions after the allegations of the prime minister. However, the necessary clarifications were issued to the national and international media.

After the historic decision of the Supreme Court, this has become completely clear. The higher judiciary has become free from pressure while the institutions are also performing their duties within their limits.

Critics say that political parties, lawyers and journalists should remember the current situation and refrain from accusing the judiciary and national institutions of bias if any future decision goes against their will.
