The ruling Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leader and federal minister Khurram Dastgir has admitted to taking part in a smear campaign against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan by installing ‘Ghari Chor [wristwatch thief]’ banners on the streets of Gujranwala.
Khurram Dastgir was once again caught red-handed due to his habit of speaking excessively.
The federal minister confessed to putting up banners with writings, ‘Wristwatch thief and Toshakhana thief’, against Imran Khan in Gujranwala. He was caught admitting the move during an interview with the Geo News programme Capital Talk.
Federal Minister Khurram Dastgir, who belongs to Gujranwala complained, “I still do not have a level playing field”. He said that today when the citizens of Gujranwala put up the banners, the Punjab police started taking them down.”
Hamid Mir, the host of the program, immediately caught Khurram Dastgir’s words and laughed loudly and said, “What do we mean here? Are you doing it?”
Dastgir became indignant and said, “I am not doing it but the citizen of Gujranwala.”
Fawad Chaudhry called Dastgir shameless over his statement in a Twitter message.

Imran Khan’s former chief of staff Dr Shahbaz Gill messaged on Twitter, “On the one hand, they say that the long march’s attendance is very low and on the other hand, it is a sign of panic as they secretly put up banners at night with their workers.”
He added that the people are now the true soul of the PTI long march and the ‘imported government’ will soon be sent packing before the marchers reach Islamabad.
