KP Ministers Remained Absent From Assembly in 2020
Chief Minister Mehmood Khan only attended one session out of 49 while the ministers followed his footsteps
Another year of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly has come to an end and the attendance of Chief Minister Mehmood Khan and several other ministers remained extremely low as some of them ‘visited’ the assembly only once and remained absent most of the times.
KP Chief Minister Mahmood Khan remained absent from the assembly sessions and only attended one of total of 49 conducted throughout 2020.
KP Assembly Opposition Leader Akram Khan Durrani was absent 37 times.
On the other hand, there are some members who have been present in all the sessions throughout the year.
Among them, ANP’s Salahuddin and Jamaat-e-Islami’s Hamira Khatun had full attendance.
KP Assembly Speaker Mushtaq Ghani was present in the assembly sessions 42 times while the following remained absent from the assembly as follows:
- Provincial Minister Shahram Turki was absent 41 times
- Atif Khan – 32 times
- Provincial Minister Liaquat Khattak – 33 times
- Forest Minister Muhammad Ishtiaq 24 times
- Finance Minister Taimur Khan Jhagr 30 times
- Provincial Advisor Ziaullah Bangash 33 times
- MPA Amjad Afridi 36 times
- MPA Ehtesham Akbar was absent 26 times
- Tufail Anjum 38 times
- Shakeel Ahmed 40 times
Provincial Minister for Food Qalandar Lodhi, MPAs Liaquat Khan, Abdul Salam, and Khushdal Khan attended 45 meetings. Most of the ministers displayed extremely poor performance and did not bother to come to the KP assembly while remaining absent.

Meanwhile, the opposition members attended more meetings compared to government officials. Rehana Ismail and Shagufta Malik had almost full attendance.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly is the unicameral legislative body of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in Pakistan. It was established under Article 106 of the Constitution of Pakistan.
