KP governor: Federal govt likely to appoint JUI-F chief’s relative, neglects ANP
The federal government is expected to appoint JUI-F chief's relative Haji Ghulam Ali as KP governor, neglecting ANP.

ISLAMABAD: The federal government is expected to appoint Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) chief’s close relative Haji Ghulam Ali as the governor of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), neglecting another ally, Awami National Party (ANP).
The federal government has neglected the ANP for the KP governorship and decided to appoint Haji Ghulam Ali, former JUI-F senator and the father-in-law of Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s daughter, to the top slot.
The position of KP governor fell vacant since Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shah Farman stepped down soon after Shehbaz Sharif was sworn in as the prime minister in April this year.
Haji Ghulam Ali is a renowned business personality of Peshawar who remained a former president of FPCCI, ex-Peshawar nazim and the father of Peshawar Mayor Zubair Ali. Haji Ghulam Ali is also the brother-in-law of JUI-F supremo Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
The development came a day after President Dr Arif Alvi appointed Muttahida Quami Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Kamran Tessori as Sindh governor after nearly seven months, rejecting many names shortlisted by MQM-P leadership.
In another development, the ANP threatened to leave the ruling alliance if upcoming by-elections were further postponed. The announcement was made by ANP KP President Aimal Wali Khan on Twitter.
He said, “ANP has officially conveyed this message to the federal government that if these by-elections are further postponed then, ANP would withdraw from the election and will be quitting the alliance.”
The @ANPMarkaz has officially conveyed this message to the federal government that if these by-elections are further postponed then, ANP would withdraw from the election and will be quitting the alliance. We won’t let the RBM runaway this time.

ANP’s announcement came just after the interior ministry requested the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to postpone by-polls scheduled for October 16 for 90 days due to flood relief and rehabilitation activities, as well as the upcoming long march of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in Islamabad.
