Laughter Banned for 11 Days in North Korea

On 10th death anniversary of former ruler Kim Jong Il, there will be 11 days state of mourning, ban on laughing, drinking and shopping.

Laughter has been banned across the North Korea for 11 days on the 10th anniversary of former leader Kim Jong Il. The people of North Korea will not be able to express their happiness for 11 days to celebrate the tenth anniversary of Kim Jong Il.

Laughter and drinking will also be banned during the 11-day mourning period. On the day of Kim Jong Il’s death, December 17, North Koreans will also be banned from buying bargains.

A North Korean citizen told Radio Free Asia that during the mourning period, we are not allowed to drink alcohol, laugh or engage in any activity.

Even if a member of your family dies in this mourning, you are not allowed to weep loudly.

Kim Jong Il ruled North Korea from 1994 until his death in 2011. He was the father of current Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un.

His reign is the longest in the history of North Korea, with the worst famine in the mid-1990s, killing an estimated 3.5 million people.
