The recent rift between the government and military over the appointment of DG of ISI motivated many journalists to speculate ‘something was going to happen’ but their hopes were dashed.
The 12th day of October 1999 is an appalling day for the democratic history of the country as then COAS Pervez Musharraf ousted then Prime Minister
and came into power.
Most of them started hoping that another military coup on October 12 would be repeated and Imran Khan will be ousted like Nawaz Sharif.
Raising specter, some prominent journalists took to their Twitter accounts and started making assertions that something was about to ‘happen today’ and at the same time, the federal cabinet was meeting too.

However, the hopes of journalists were dashed as nothing of the sort happened on the ‘military coup’ anniversary.
Prime Minister Imran Khan took the cabinet members in confidence over the issue and assured them civil and military were aligned.
