Maryam Nawaz keeps silence after mistaken tweet on ‘Free Balochistan’

She is quiet on hike in sugar and petrol prices as well as PM’s relief package

Pakistan has been going through a series of crisis ranging from political to economic for the past few weeks. A nation looks at its leadership during the testing times.

PML-N Vice-President Maryam Nawaz is one of the country’s main political leader. But, for the past couple of weeks she is remained silent. Several important events unfolded in the past few days but she is kept mum since her tweet with regard to rights of Balochistan, which drew strong criticism on the social media. Later, she had to delete her tweet and give explanation.

The sugar’s wholesale rate has jumped to Rs150 per kilogram in the country. While the retail price increased up to Rs160kg, but the PML-N leader remained silent on this major issue badly affecting the masses.

Then, Prime Minister Imran Khan had announced Rs120 billion relief package. Under the package, 30 per cent discount will be given on flour, ghee and pulses to 130 million Pakistanis for the next six months. Even on that occasion Maryam Nawaz did not come up with criticism on the prime minister.

Most recently, the government had dropped petrol bomb on masses. The price of petrol was increased by Rs8.03 to Rs145.82 per litre while the high-speed diesel was hiked by Rs8.14 to Rs142.62 per litre.
Even this PTI-led government’s petrol bomb attack on masses had failed to move the PML-N leader. She is till silent on this recent hike in petroleum prices.

It seems that her recent mistaken tweet on Balochistan has kept her quiet.
