Maulana Fazlur Rehman poses a new challenge for PML-N
PDM chief reiterated his proposal of tendering resignations from the national and provincial assemblies.
Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has once again proposed to tender resignations from the national and provincial assemblies. The proposal has posed a new challenge for the PML-N, which is least interested in the quitting assemblies.
Yesterday, former prime minister and PML-N leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi had opposed the proposal of tendering resignations from the assemblies. But, during the PDM meeting Maulana Fazlur Rehman has once against threw his weight behind the option of resigning from both the national and provincial assemblies. He said that resignations will be tendered when the long march reaches Islamabad.

The Maulana Fazl’s proposal has put the unity of the PDM at risk as the PLM-N is in no mood to quit the assemblies.
Earlier in April, the PPP and ANP had quitted the PDM over the issue of resignations from the assemblies. As a result, the opposition alliance had become weak.
However, in recent days, the PPP had come closer to the PML-N and the PDM again, giving a tough time to the treasury benches in the parliament. But, Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s proposal has become a new challenge for the PML-N.
In yesterday’s meeting, the PDM’s top leadership had demanded that the general elections be held next year.
They had decided to delay the decision on the long march till the next meeting to be held on December 6.
