Medical Students Surprise With First Electric Bike Of Pakistan

The battery-powered motorbike needs to be charged once for three hours using approximately 1 to 1.5 units of electricity

The medical students from Peshawar made the first electric-bike holding the record of being the first inventors of electric motorbikes in Pakistan. While continuing their medical education, they have also excelled in the field of engineering.

Mohyuddin Khan and Umair, both final-year medical students from Peshawar, have built the first electric bike in Pakistan and claim that it is simple and extremely low-cost as well as eco-friendly.

Mohyuddin Khan is the founder and CEO of Teleport, a startup company incubated at NIC Peshawar, and has developed this electric bike which is capable of driving 100 kilometers on a single charge.

The invention of the battery-powered motorbike was a big feat for both medical students who made this machine out of their interest and passion.

The two students worked day and night and at an early age, they accomplished making the first electric bike in Pakistan.

It took them 4 years to develop the final product, making 4 prototypes along the journey.

The electric bike is completely designed and manufactured in Pakistan with a completely original design and almost all parts sourced from the local market.

The only thing that has been imported is the electric motor due to its unavailability in Pakistan.

The bike would cost about Rs 150,000 per unit.

The battery-powered motorbike needs to be charged once for three hours using approximately 1 to 1.5 units of electricity after which it can run unstopped for 100kms.

The electric bike is very cost-effective compared to other bikes as 4 km on the electric bike costs one rupee compared to the heavy fuel charges spent on regular bikes.

Mohyuddin Khan seeks government’s support for this project. He says inexpensive electric bikes should be used all over the world as they are cost-effective and eco-friendly.
