Fast bowler Mohammed Shami’s abuse at the hands of Indian cricket fans has become an huge embarrassment for the entire India after Pakistan wicket-keeper batter Muhammad Rizwan advised them to respect the stars.

The star opening batter, who scored 79 against India on Sunday,  took to Twitter and showed solidarity with Mohammed Shami.

He said: ”Please respect your stars. This game should bring people together & not divide ’em #Shami #PAKvIND.”

Rizwan further said that the kind of pressure, struggles and sacrifices a player has to go through for his country and his people is immeasurable.

He said that Mohammed Shami is a star and indeed of the best bowlers in the world.

On Sunday when India entered the Dubai International Stadium to play against Pakistan they took a knee in solidarity with the Black Lives movement (BLM).

This positive gesture did not last for a long. After losing the match against Pakistan, the entire India teamed up and started abusing the sole Muslim member of their cricket team Muhammad Shami on the social media.

Also, some 14 students from Kashmir were attacked in India.

The Muslim Indian cricketer’s Instagram received hundreds of abusive messages, some even calling him ‘traitor’ and a ‘sell out’.

India team, which took a knee in solidarity with the Black Lives movement (BLM), could not stand for their teammate.

However, former Indian skipper and legendary batter Sachin Tendulkar has showed solidarity with Muhammad Shami on his Twitter.

“When we support #TeamIndia, we support every person who represents Team India,” Tendulkar wrote.

He said that Shami is a committed, world-class bowler. He had an off day like any other sportsperson can have.

I stand behind Shami & Team India, the former Indian batter said.
