The National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting sought details of advertisements given to media houses during the last eight years. Former Chief Justice Saqib Nisar and other personalities were also summoned.

The meeting of the Standing Committee on December 6 will also consider the issue of affidavit of former Chief Justice of Gilgit-Baltistan Rana Shamim regarding former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Saqib Nisar.
The issue of former Chief Justice Saqib Nisar’s alleged statement not to release Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz before the 2018 elections will also be considered in the case of audio released by Ahmad Noorani recently. In this regard, former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Gilgit-Baltistan Rana Shamim and former Chief Justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar have also been summoned in the next session. Journalist Ahmad Noorani, Editor-in-Chief Sama TV and Saqib Nisar have been directed to appear on the issue of audio leak.
In the notice of the meeting, the chairman of the committee said that Mir Shakeel-ur-Rehman, editor in chief of The News and Ansar Abbasi, editor of The News, former chief justice of Gilgit-Baltistan Rana M. Shamim and former chief justice of Saqib Nisar should also be called for the meeting. Explain your position.
The meeting will also review the notices of Maulana Abdul Akbar Chitrali and other MNAs regarding the growing obscenity on TV channels. The issue of misbehavior of PTV anchor Dr Noman Niaz and abuse of national hero Shoaib Akhtar will also be considered. The issue of attack on former chairman PEMRA and senior journalist Absar Alam and journalist Asad as well as registration of FIR against journalist Hamid Mir and Asma Shirazi will also be discussed.
