No-confidence motion: Shehbaz, Fazl in disarray after responding to PPP’s call
Asif Ali Zardari, who had convinced Shehbaz, Fazl for bringing a no-confidence motion against PTI government, is found nowhere in the scene after the recent political developments.
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) supremo Maualan Fazlur Rehman were seemingly in a state of disarray after accepting the call of no-confidence motion given by Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government.
PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, who had convinced PML-N’s Shehbaz Sharif and JUI-F’s Maulana Fazlur Rehman for bringing a no-confidence motion against the PTI government, is found nowhere in the scene after the recent political developments.
Asif Ali Zardari is currently admitted to the hospital following his ailment in the crucial time when the opposition parties in general announced to go ahead with the planned no-confidence motion to phase-wise oust the incumbent government.
Split within PML-N ranks after meeting with PPP leadership
The opposition parties had earlier announced to launch a new campaign for bringing a no-confidence motion after claiming that some circles in the ally parties were willing to take their side.
In a meeting with Asif Ali Zardari, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and PPP top brass, PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif hosted a lunch to decide matters related to the anti-government movement. Later, Asif Ali Zardari had also met Chaudhry brothers, however, Pakistan Muslim League Quaid (PML-Q) has recently announced not to part ways with the ruling PTI.
On the other hand, the opposition alliance, Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) had also announced to bring a no-confidence motion after Shehbaz convinced Fazl regarding the strategy.
Political analysts said that after the recent development, PPP has given an impression of being closer to the power centres than PML-Q as the opposition party damaged the whole campaigning of the opposition parties gathered below the flag of PDM.
PDM announces to bring no-confidence motion ‘after making ground’
They added that Shehbaz Sharif was apparently trapped by Zardari’s political move as he played his role to convince PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif to support the no-confidence motion call.
On the factual ground, two major ally parties of the PTI government had given a clear message to back the ruling political party in the Centre and Punjab.
Yesterday, Maulana Fazlur Rehman had announced that PDM would review its decision to hold a long march in Islamabad on March 23 if the opposition parties finalise the date of the no-confidence motion.
