No progress made on probe into PMO audio leak

PMO audio leak, inquiry, PMO audio leak inquiry

The coalition government has made no progress on launching an inquiry into the highly sensitive issue of the alleged audio leak of the secret conversations of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) after spending more than 24 hours.

The alleged audio leak of PMO raised questions regarding national security as it disclosed the secret conversations of PM Shehbaz Sharif, federal ministers and ministers.

In the alleged audio leak, PM Shehbaz Sharif, Federal Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif and former National Assembly (NA) speaker Ayaz Sadiq are consulting about the resignations of PML-N assembly members.

The alleged audio leak also disclosed the conversation between PM Sharif and an individual who were discussing Maryam Nawaz and her son-in-law.

During the conversation, a person is allegedly telling Shahbaz Sharif during the conversation that Maryam Nawaz is asking to import a power plant from India for her son-in-law, half of the plant came from India and half is left and they will face issues if the matter go to the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC).

Analysts said that whether it is Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif or any other premier, the audio leak is a sensitive issue. If the Prime Minister’s house is not safe, then what are the dozens of security agencies doing? It was learnt that 8 GB of stolen data was put on auction for $30 million on the dark web.

In another development yesterday, PML-N senior leader and Finance Minister Miftah Ismail resigned from his post after hearing the news of Senator Ishaq Dar’s return and the alleged audio leak of PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz.

The agencies would have arrested the wanted persons within hours if the audio or video of a common man is leaked but more than a day is passed after PMO audio leak and no arrest or action was made as yet.
