ISLAMABAD: The no-confidence motion campaign of the opposition parties has reached a dead end after the strong moves of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) led federal government.
Just after a few moves of Prime Minister Imran Khan, the federal government has changed the political scenario of the country which was seemingly going in the favour of the opposition running a campaign of the no-confidence motion.
PM Imran Khan took a series of decisions after concluding his visit to Russia that has resulted in the failure of the opposition’s efforts for toppling the PTI government.
The opposition parties had been expecting a major breakthrough in its anti-government movement to topple the incumbent set-up in which the residence of Pakistan Muslim League Quaid (PML-Q) top leader Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain became the centre of the politics.

Almost all major opposition parties had held several meetings at Hussain’s residence, however, the efforts went in vain.
The PTI government under the premiership of Imran Khan foiled the opposition’s plan as the ruling political party immediately contacted the PML-Q leadership and took them into confidence. Moreover, PM Imran Khan had hinted at meeting Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan leadership at the MQM-P’s Bahadurabad headquarters in the coming days.

PML-Q backtracks on plan to go with opposition’s no-confidence motion
PM Imran Khan had announced to reduce petroleum products’ prices up to Rs10 per litre and a reduction of Rs5 per unit for electricity besides announcing tax exemptions for freelancers in the IT sector and subsidies for housing, agriculture and investments by overseas Pakistanis.
Yesterday, the premier had visited Lahore, the provincial capital of Punjab, where he announced an amnesty scheme for investors and the provision of tax exemptions for the next five years. Besides the investment front, the PTI government gave special tax exemptions to the startups, especially for the youth.
It would the last nail in the no-confidence motion’ coffin after PM Imran Khan decided to meet disgruntled Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former close aide Jahangir Tareen over the advice of Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed citing the new political challenges and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) long march to Islamabad.

Following the developments, PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari has stepped back on the political front and put forward his son Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to run the political campaign in the name of Awami March to Islamabad. The real status of PPP’s long march was restricted to just a political campaign for the upcoming LG polls and the next general elections in 2023.
It was learnt that Pakistan Democratic Movement’s (PDM) Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Shehbaz Sharif were still pursuing the plan to bring the no-confidence motion against PTI government. On the other hand, Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Quaid Nawaz Sharif and VP Maryam Nawaz were seen calm as they had already predicted the failure of the no-trust move.
