Opposition parties reject Prime Minister Imran Khan’s relief package

Shehbaz Sharif says IMF's conditions had badly affected the nation.

The opposition parties have rejected the Prime Minister Imran Khan’s relief package announced on Wednesday.

Yesterday, the prime minister addressed the nation and announced the relief package. He said that the package is being introduced for 20 million families, which will- in turn- benefit 130 million Pakistanis. He said that the 20 million families will get 30 per cent subsidy on ghee, wheat and lentils for six months.

Opposition leaders have expressed a strong reaction to the relief package announced by the prime minister.

PML-N President and opposition leader in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif said in his statement:” While presenting the budget was not declared it a tax-free budget?” Now it is being admitted to the nation that petrol prices will further go up.” When petrol, gas and electricity get more expensive, why there will be no inflation?

He said that statistics given by the government are unreliable.

He said that the IMF’s conditions had badly affected the nation, adding that country was already under the crushing burden of debt. While the prime minister was announcing the relief package on TV, the Utility Stores issued a notification of hike in ghree and edible oil prices upto Rs65 per litre.

PML-N Spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb said that Prime Minister Imran Khan was talking about a big relief by making the youth unemployed. She suggested the government to reverse the prices of wheat and sugar if it really wants to give relief to the masses.

Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, addressing workers in Larkana, said that the ministers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf are liar. He said that Imran Khan is expert in lying to masses.

PPP’s Secretary Information and former deputy speaker of National Assembly, Faisal Karim Kundi said that the prime minister’s relief package will be invisible like a magic.

Not moving a no-confidence motion against the government will injustice with the masses, the PPP leader said.
