During a two-day visit to Uzbekistan, Prime Minister Imran Khan announced that both countries will join hands for producing a movie on the first Mughal emperor, Zaheer-ud-din Babar.

The purpose of making a film is to enable the young generation to know the history and connection between both countries.

During a joint press conference with Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Imran Khan said, “I think the young people in Uzbekistan and Pakistan must know this connection that stayed for hundreds of years between this part of the world and our part of the world”.

The premier added that Babar’s dynasty ruled India for 300 years when it was considered as “one of the richest” places in the world.

Moreover, he said that similar films on Mirza Ghalib, Allama Iqbal, and Imam Bukhari would connect the people of both lands.

Agreeing with PM, the Uzbekistan president said it is important for youth to know about the heritage left behind by Babar’s dynasty.

He also informed the audience that not many young Uzbeks knew that Pakistan is rich in mosques, mausoleums, and schools that were built by his country’s predecessors.

The new venture will strengthen the bond between the two countries.

Uzbekistan will also benefit from the cultural move as Pakistan is a huge market itself and it can give Tashkent access to the Middle East and Africa through ports, Shavkat said.

The experts say Pakistan’s shift in priority from geostrategic to geoeconomics is to boost economic and trading relationship with Uzbekistan.
