Pakistan Army, PTI on same page for probing cipher issue

Pakistan Army and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) are on the same page for the probing of cipher issue through a judicial commission.

Pakistan Army and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) are on the same page for the probing of cipher issue through a judicial commission, whereas, the army also offered cooperation with the government for investigating the diplomatic cable.

Yesterday, Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG-ISPR) Major General Babar Iftikhar reiterated the army’s stance while talking to Hum News that he has not given any political statement and no services chief had found a conspiracy against the government. If the government is willing to constitute a judicial commission to probe the cipher issue then Pakistan Army is ready to cooperate with it, he added.

Two days ago, the DG-ISPR gave the statement to Dunya TV that no foreign conspiracy was made against the Imran Khan government and facts are not being told and the armed forces are being defamed via a conspiracy.

Responding to the DG-ISPR interview, PTI chief and former premier Imran Khan said that Pakistan Army’s spokesperson could make a decision as he can only express his opinion. If there is a matter of a decision, then the chief justice should decide of whether it was a conspiracy or not.

Iftikhar’s responded to Khan’s remarks yesterday, saying that he has not given an opinion nor decision but mentioned the intelligence-based evidence collected by the military officials.

He clarified that the military institution has no objections to the high-powered probe into the cipher issue.

Following DG-ISPR’s interview to Hum News, PTI central leader Asad Umar said that Imran Khan has once again decided to move to the Supreme Court (SC) for investigating the diplomatic cable to ascertain the facts. He said that political matters should stay with the politicians and it would be better for the country if DG-ISPR should refrain from interpreting the political matters again and again.

Political analysts said that it was a good sign that Pakistan Army’s spokesperson assured of full cooperation in the judicial probe of the diplomatic cable and it is now top court’s responsibility to constitute a commission to resolve the cipher issue.
