Pakistan ranks 3rd in diabetes prevalence in world after China and India
The country has surpassed the US over the past two years.
International Diabetes Federation has said that Pakistan is ranked third in terms of diabetes prevalence in the world now. The country has surpassed the US over the past two years. In 2019, the Pakistan was ranked fourth in the world.
Only China and India has more people living with diabetes than Pakistan, where over a quarter of adults living with the disease are undiagnosed.

Hello Pakistan, in a post on Instagram, said that the prevalence of diabetes in Pakistan has increased significantly as 33 million adults in the country are now living with diabetes, with a 70 per cent increase since 2019.

Dr Saeed Mahar, the former head of Pakistan Endocrine Society said that Pakistan had even left behind the US, ranking now at number three.
According to the 10th edition of the IDF Diabetes Atlas, one in four adults living with diabetes in Pakistan.
It said that the number of diabetics in Pakistan are roughly 33 million while the number of diabetics stands at 32 million in the US with a population of over 330 million.
