The New Zealand team by calling off their tour had paved a way for English team to also cancel their scheduled visit to Pakistan on so-called security concerns.

The three-match ODI series between Pakistan and New Zealand was to be played at the Pindi Cricket Stadium, while the five-match T20 series was to be played on September 25, 26, 29, October 1 and October 3.

Following the cancellation of the tour of New Zealand, the English Cricket Board also cancelled the tour of Pakistan on September 20, 2021. However, in a statement on September 29, England and Wales Cricket Board chairman Ian Watmore apologized and announced a tour of Pakistan next year.

“We apologize for the cancellation of the team’s tour,” he said in a statement. He said the board decided for mental health due to the busy schedule of the season, which was very difficult.

The England Cricket Board said that two T20 matches were to be played between England and Pakistan but in this situation visiting the region is not ideal for the players.

On the cancellation of these tours, cricket experts said that New Zealand was to play ODI series and T20 series against Pakistan in September while England was to play a series of two T20 matches against Pakistan in early October. The cancellation of the tour of both the teams did not give Pakistan a chance to practice internationally which could affect their performance in the World Cup.
