PBC condemns proposed amendments in Official Secrets Act
Pakistan Bar Council has strongly condemned the proposed amendments in the “Official Secrets Act, 1923”, wherein intelligence/secret agencies are granted blanket powers to raid and detain any citizen, or enter/search any person in any place, without obtaining search warrant.
PBC in a statement issued today called on the govt to take back these amendments immediately as it is against basic human rights.
The apex lawyers body also expressed its resolve to launch struggle to counter it if govt moves forward with the amendment
