PDM announces to bring no-confidence motion ‘after making ground’
PDM has announced that it will bring a confidence motion against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government ‘after making ground’.
LAHORE: Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) has announced that it will bring a confidence motion against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government ‘after making ground’.
In a press conference after the PDM summit at Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Shehbaz Sharif’s Model Town residence in Lahore, Maulana Fazlur Rehman made the announcement of a no-confidence motion against the PTI government, however, no time frame was given.
It may be noted here that PML-N lawmaker Mohsin Shahnawaz Ranjha had earlier hinted at bringing a no-confidence motion against the federal government’s top officeholders in the last week of February.
Following the PDM’s announcement, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said in a Twitter message that it was the victory of democracy as most of the opposition parties agreed on bringing a no-confidence motion against the government. He added that Prime Minister Imran Khan lost the confidence of the nation and soon he will lose confidence of the parliament as well.
It is a victory for democracy that most opposition parties now agree to bring a no-confidence motion against the government. The PM has lost the confidence of the people, it is about time he lost the confidence of Parliament .

On the factual grounds, PDM failed to get support of the ally political parties of PTI government, Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) and Pakistan Muslim League Quaid (PML-Q), despite multiple attempts to convince them.
Amid tall claims for having completed the number to bring a no-confidence motion by some opposition leaders, Shehbaz Sharif has seen failure to meet Chaudhry brothers but they expressed no interest to meet him.
The same result was witnessed by PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari after holding a meeting with PML-Q leaders. Moreover, the lawmakers loyal to dissident PTI leader Jahangir Tareen have also decided to be with the PTI government.
PTI Senator Faisal Javed Khan reacted to the PDM’s announcement, saying that the opposition is independent to bring a confidence motion. He added that the opposition leaders were actually seeking NRO from PM Imran Khan.
He said that the opposition will face a failure once again.
