The government officials are joyous on fissures within PDM as the deadline of January 31 is nearing

The announcement of participation in the Senate election by Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), arrest of Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) leader Khwaja Asif and formation of a new faction of Jamiat-e-Ulema (JUI) can be wrapped up as a trouble-day for the opposition alliance formed under the name of Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM).

The rumors about the differences among the parties in the PDM were circulating in the political sphere.

However, as events happened with parties in PDM including JUI, PPP, and PML-N’s Khawaja Asif only on December 29, it seems like the speculations, doubts, and fears regarding the alliance are taking the shape of a reality.

According to sources circulating in media, PPP has linked the return of PML-N Head Nawaz Sharif to deliberate on en masse resignations.

However, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto announced, after the party’s Central Executive Committee (CEC) meeting, to participate in the by-polls as well as the Senate election.

Now, the ball about the future of PDM is in PML-N’s court that had certainly been on the front-foot about throwing out Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Further, the trouble day for PDM did not end as the PML-N senior leader and ex-Defence Minister Khawaja Asif was arrested by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Tuesday.
