PFUJ president says ‘PDM govt imposed martial law on APP’

PFUJ President Afzal Butt has said that the PDM government imposed martial law on the state news agency, APP.

Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) President Afzal Butt has said that the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) government imposed martial law on the state news agency, Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) in late night decision on Thursday.

Afzal Butt slammed the 13-party PDM government for imposing ‘martial law’ on the journalist fraternity associated with APP. The PFUJ president said that the rights of the journalists were seized through a ‘black law’ secret.

‘A summary was approved through a circular from the federal cabinet. Interior and Information ministries were told that the rights of the media workers at APP were seized and those who raised their voices for press freedom will lose their jobs.”

Butt said that PFUJ will start nationwide protests against the ‘martial law’ in APP if the federal government does not withdraw its orders.

In another tweet, Afzal Butt said that the government withdrew its order regarding the state news agency and the PFUJ also called off its protest.
