PM Shehbaz Sharif met Nawaz Sharif, PML-N's lifetime leader in London and discussed the country's affairs in detail.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met Nawaz Sharif, lifetime leader of the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) in London yesterday and discussed the country’s affairs in detail.
In the meeting which lasted for three hours, former finance minister Ishaq Dar, son of PM Shehbaz Sharif and accused Salman Shehbaz, son of Nawaz Sharif and accused Hasan Nawaz were also present.
PM Sharif discussed the country’s political situation and economic affairs with Nawaz Sharif and former finance minister Ishaq Dar.
According to media reports, The premier in his meeting with Nawaz discussed various issues including general elections on time and the strategy to shake the coalition government of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Muslim League Quaid (PML-Q) in Punjab.
The Sharif brothers also agreed that despite the pressure, the coalition government would complete its constitutional term and the next general elections would be held “as per schedule.”
In the meeting held in the presence of the prime minister, Nawaz Sharif and other leaders including Ishaq Dar discussed important appointments in November.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, PM Sharif said that the coalition government had allocated Rs70 billion and via Benazir Income Support Program (BISP), the government was giving Rs25,000 each family in the flood-affected areas.
The premier said that friendly countries are generously helping the flood victims. Relief supplies are arriving on planes, trains and ships while the people of Pakistan are also donating and the federal and provincial governments are playing their part in the relief and rehabilitation of flood-affected people.
Shehbaz Sharif said that the government is providing clean water, food, tents and other essential items to the flood victims through national and provincial disaster management authorities. The entire nation and the armed forces are leading the way in helping the flood victims.
According to media reports, this meeting was held in Hasan Nawaz’s office, Stanhope House, at the same time, PTI workers protested strongly against Nawaz Sharif outside the office, and when they came out after the meeting, they raised slogans against him.
Analysts expressed regret over the meeting held at Stanhope House and said that Pakistan is a free and independent country, but the sad thing is that the Prime Minister of Pakistan meets the absconding criminals and accused of this country in London and the country was seeking opinions from them on the most important affairs.
Analysts say that it is reprehensible that decisions regarding the appointment of the army chief in November are being made in London.
On the other hand, Defense Minister Khawaja Asif said that the appointment of the Army Chief should not be given a political colour.
If Nawaz Sharif has to decide on the appointment of the Army Chief, then this issue will not be political but controversial, analysts added.
