Police baton-charge residents, builders protesting demolition of Nasla Tower
Supreme Court had ordered demolition of building within seven days.
Police fired tear gas shells and resorted to baton-charge at protesting residents and builders outside the Nasla Tower.
The protesters tried to stop the the demolition work of the building when police intervened and fired tear gas shells on them.
Earlier in the day, the Supreme Court had ordered demolition of Nasla Tower within a week time and rejected the Karachi Commissioner’s plea seeking 50 days period to demolish the building.
The police were deployed after the local administration learnt of a possible protest by the residents of the tower and the Association of Builders and Developers (ABAD).

Women police officers were also deployed at the site of building while Rangers personnel were also seen around the Nasla Tower.
Later, when the protesters tried to stop the demolition work of the tower police used baton charge and tear gas to disperse them. As a result, the protesters were seen taking shelter in the nearby streets.
Residents of area also affected by the the tear gas shells while traffic on the Shahrea Faisal also affected due to the protest.
