ISLAMABAD: The magic phone call has gained importance in the current political scenario as some politicians are eagerly waiting to jump ship while others contract ailment and another are afraid of it, reliable sources privy to the developments told News360.
Sources revealed that 16 lawmakers of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) were eagerly waiting for the magic phone call. The same lawmakers had cast their votes to Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) central leader Yousaf Raza Gillani in the Senate elections and they knew that Prime Minister Imran Khan was fully aware of them but their names were not revealed before the election commission.
“The PTI government would have deprived of majority in the Upper House if their names were given to the election commission for the horse-trading. These 16 PTI lawmakers also know that they will not be awarded party tickets for the next elections. They are now waiting for the magic phone call to leave the political party for deciding on their future.”
“Two ally parties of PTI government, Pakistan Muslim League Quaid (PML-Q) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P), are also waiting for the phone call. They are afraid of their future in the next set-up on a performance basis in the case of the ouster of the PTI government. This fear makes them waiting for the phone call to jump ship to change their loyalties to the opposition parties.”
Sources said that the opposition leader in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif was also waiting for the magic phone call to get a green signal for launching the final round of no-confidence motion against the incumbent government. “In the wait of a phone call, he keeps a complete silence due to his deteriorated health condition. This will also help him not to receive any other phone calls.”
“Moreover, the disgruntled PTI leader Jahangir Tareen is afraid of receiving a phone call. He travelled abroad to stay away from such phone calls. Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Quaid Nawaz Sharif and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) supremo Maulana Fazlur Rehman are also facing the fear of the phone calls for wrapping up their planned no-confidence motion to topple the PTI government led by PM Imran Khan.”
Sources also revealed that PM Imran Khan is still having access to a magic phone call that would be a game-changer. They added that a phone call from a subordinate institution of PM Imran Khan could still bring a major change in the political situation.
