MULTAN: PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi’s son, Shah Zain Qureshi said that Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) had won two seats in the by-elections by using the state machinery.

Shah Zain Qureshi attributed the victory of Syed Musa Ali Gillani in the NA-157 by-polls to the use of state machinery, saying that their vote bank has increased.

PTI MPA Shah Zain Qureshi told News360 that PTI’s performance in the recent by-elections was commendable. He said that Imran Khan’s regime change narrative is gaining popularity and the nation expressed confidence in him out of eleven seats in the by-elections, Khan won 8 seats.

He said for the first time in the history of Pakistan, a person has contested elections on 7 seats and won on 6 seats. This has proved that Imran Khan’s narrative is being accepted by the nation and he will form the next government.

On the other hand, Zain, while detailing about the defeat of his sister Meher Bano Qureshi in NA-157 Multan, said he got 77,000 votes in the 2018 general elections while the PPP and PML-N secured 60,000 to 70,000 votes.

In this way, PTI’s vote bank has increased and PDM’s candidate Ali Musa Geelani has secured 107,000 votes instead of 130,000 votes, he added.

Zain Qureshi alleged that in the by-elections, the federal government used the state machinery and the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). He said that he filed 18 complaints against the illegal moves, but the government candidate Ali Musa Gillani was not issued a single one notice despite election code violation, on the other hand, he received six notices despite doing nothing.

Shah Zain Qureshi said that PDM’s unity is temporary. “If PML-N leader Abdul Ghaffar Dogar supports PPP’s Ali Musa Gillani in the next general elections then he will end its politics by his own hands.”

“PTI has not lost its vote bank and it will win when the opponents divide their vote bank. We have learned from our mistakes and will succeed in the future.”

In response to a question, Shah Zain Qureshi said that if Imran Khan had contested the elections on this seat as well, the vote bank of PTI would have increased further and he would have succeeded like other seats.
