Former senator of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar has declared the current government as another hybrid government and said that the PTI government was also a hybrid regime.
Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar has said that the present government has done things that even the Imran Khan government did not do. These views were expressed by Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar while talking on the Geo News program “Naya Pakistan”.
Answering the question of anchorperson Shehzad Iqbal, the former senator said that the way in which decisions are being made, since the day Shehbaz Sharif became the prime minister, those decisions were probably not made even in Imran Khan’s government.
The promotion of civil servants will depend on the NOC of the Intelligence Agency. We have sacrificed the freedom that was given to government employees. Apart from this, the government’s role in the violence that is being inflicted on political opponents is no more than a mouthpiece. We are taking ownership of it.
Khokhar said, “What is the difference, the things we used to criticise Imran Khan for were the worst violence against political opponents during his tenure, Rana Sanaullah was charged with heroin, it was a wrong case.”
“Political opponents continued to be targeted, what happened to Maryam Nawaz, what happened to Faryal Talpur. What happened to Zardari, and Nawaz Sharif had to leave the country. When we went through this atmosphere, we should have thought that we had seen the 90s too.”
“We should have democratically responded to what went wrong during Imran Khan’s regime from our own experience. Unfortunately, today we have pushed the country into the 90s. Now, if Imran Khan comes back to the government, he will naturally suppress his opponents.”
Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar said that we are stuck in a circle, those parties who claim democracy should not have indulged in political revenge.
