Protests Choke Karachi, Imran Khan Quetta Visit Iffy Today

Traffic snarl-ups were witnessed across the metropolis from early morning as the administration remained disappeared to remove impediments

The aftermath of the killings of 11 coal-miners in Mach Balochistan has been an astonishing one as Prime Minister Imran Khan is delaying a visit to Quetta on unknown grounds and Shia Hazara community has sprung up in Karachi and other parts of Pakistan and staging protests and sit-ins to steer the attention of the government towards their demands.

The sit-ins in Karachi have been organized by the Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) Pakistan against the massacre in Mach.

The traffic on different thoroughfares in the megacity including Abul Hassan Isfahani Road, Kamran Chowrangi, Powerhouse Chowrangi, Exhibition square, Malir 15, Colony Gate Shahrae Faisal, Natha Khan Bridge, Nipa, Maskan Chowrangi, Nazimabad, etc remained jam due to roads’ blockage.

News360 learned that hospitals have started to face a shortage of oxygen cylinders as equipment could not be hauled as many arteries in the city were blocked.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Imran Khan has so far not specified the time and date of his visit to Quetta as demanded by the Hazara community which is the reason of the protests in Karachi as well as in other parts of the country.

Whereas, Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) Vice-President Maryam Nawaz is visiting the protesters today and would try to convince them to bury those who were brutally killed by the terrorists.

Imran Khan has appealed to the protesters in Quetta to bury the deceased and a delegation of government officials met the demonstrators too. However, they refused to end the protest.

As of now, Maryam Nawaz and Bilawal Bhutto have reached the capital of Balochistan to express condolence to the families of the Mach victims and to persuade them to bury their loved ones.
