PSL V: ARY Beats Geo, Biryani Beats Paye, Chai Beats Lassi

WEB DESK: Karachi Kings lifted the Pakistan Super League (PSL) trophy finally in the fifth edition. With Lahore Qalandars losing the final, it could be said that ARY defeated Geo TV, Biryani has won over Paye, Chai has won over Lassi, and what else not.

It seemed like Qalandar’s captain Sohail Akhtar misread the pitch and chose to bat first after winning the toss.

Karachi clinched the victory by losing five wickets to get the target of 135.

On the pitch being deemed as hard and other batsmen surely struggled.

Babar Azam eagle eyes managed to send the ball to the boundary line.

He emerged as the main difference between the two finalists and remained unbeaten with 63 runs.

From the losing side, Haris Rauf and Dilbar Hussain bagged two wickets each.

Other than ‘PSL Clásico’, all had eyes Lahore Qalandars owner Rana Fawad, who has been known for being expressive of his feelings.

However, he embraced the defeat with a smiling face, like a sportsman.

Match Summary:

Lahore scored 134 runs for the loss of 7 wickets while playing first, Tamim Iqbal remained the top scorer with 35 runs.

Waqas Maqsood, Arshad Iqbal and Ameed Asif took two wickets each for Karachi.

In reply, Sharjeel Khan and Babar Azam started the innings for Karachi Kings and put up a 23-run partnership for the first wicket.

On this occasion, Sharjeel Khan was dismissed for 13 runs. Alex Hales (11) and Chadwick Walton (22) then returned to the pavilion.

Shaheen Shah Afridi was adjudged the best bowler whereas Fakhar Zaman was adjudged the best fielder.
