Rana Sanaullah’s threatening tone against PTI criticised

The threatening tone of Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah against PTI for planning another Islamabad long march has been strongly criticised.

ISLAMABAD: The threatening tone of Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for planning another Islamabad long march has been strongly criticised.

After PTI progresses on another Islamabad long march, Rana Sanaullah tweeted, I am warning PTI against the announcement of another long march. One thing I want to illustrate, as soon as the long March is announced “let them come and I’ll see how they cross barriers this time.”

Mubashir Zaidi said, “This is not a statement of a government minister but that of a Ghunda. Highly condemnable.”

Omar Waraich wrote, “This is a threat of violence and a violation of the right to freedom of peaceful assembly.”

Meena Gabeena said, “A criminal is supposed to be stopped by law & not by force. I don’t understand what the govt is waiting for and how these threats are gonna help? You are literally threatening them as an interior minister instead of stopping them legally. Either stop him legally or don’t stop him.”

“Think you are only making laadlas case stronger in court by such statements. No harm in deleting it even now,” she added.

Asma Ali Zain also criticised Sanaullah’s statement.

Pansota wrote, “The warning by @RanaSanaullahPK clearly amounts to criminal intimidation as defined under section 503 of the Pakistan Penal Code, 1860 and is punishable with imprisonment varying from 3 years to life imprisonment, depending on the nature and extent of the threat. #RanaSanaUllah.”

“Interior minister Rana Sanaullah’s threat is punishable under section 503 of Pakistan’s penal code. He can be sentenced 3 years in prison for making such threats,” said Najma Minhas.
