RATODERO, Sindh: Surgeons are forced to operate upon patients under makeshift arrangements following the lack of electricity and an independent power supply system at Ratodero trauma centre.

A video has surfaced in which a hospital staff member was treating a patient under the light of a mobile phone camera during the power outage after the trauma centre plunged into darkness.

The dilapidated state of the medical centre was witnessed in the constituency of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) chairman and a Member of the National Assembly (MNA) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and his paternal aunt Faryal Talpur, an elected Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA).

The trauma centre has a generator which is now turning into rusted garbage after not being repaired and maintained by the administration for many years, showing the lack of concerns of the lawmakers to provide basic medical facilities to the citizens.

Amid power outages, doctors are used to conducting operations under mobile phone lights. The patients who are suffering from the miserable situation there demanded the high-rank officers take notice of the poor state of the trauma centre.
