Riots broke out in Karachi after dubious results of local body elections
An armed clash took place between Pakistan Peoples Party and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf workers in Kemari, while in Malir district, Jamaat-e-Islami and Peoples Party workers attacked each other with sticks. As a result of the clash, many workers of the parties were injured.
What happened was what was feared, after the allegations of alleged rigging in local body elections in Karachi and Hyderabad, violent protests have started in Shahr Quaid, political activists in Kemari and Malir district raised slogans against each other and used sticks. They also attacked each other, as a result of which several workers were injured, according to various media reports, several police personnel and media workers were also injured as a result of the violent riots.
The counting of votes is still going on in Karachi and Hyderabad, the capital of Sindh province, for the municipal elections held on Sunday.
Clashes took place between workers of political parties in different areas of the city, in which many people were injured.

Workers of two political groups also pelted stones outside the district commissioner’s office in Kemari, resulting in injuries to two journalists.
Meanwhile, the DC office Kemari, where the returning officer was also stationed, accused PTI workers of barging into the office and harassing the staff, including a female polling agent.
PTI, on the other hand, has accused the PPP of attacking its workers outside the DC office as videos posted on social media show both parties pelting stones at each other. Reports said PTI leader Ali Zaidi and a media official were among those injured in the clashes.
Accusing the Sindh government and Election Commission of collusion, Jamaat-e-Islami and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf workers started protest sit-ins in various areas including Kemari, Malir Halt, Gulshan Hadid and Qayyumabad.

On the other hand, there was a clash between Jamaat-e-Islami and People’s Party workers at Malir Halt area of Karachi, stones were thrown at each other. SSP Irfan Bahadur said that the workers were instructed to be peaceful but the workers were not ready to listen, resulting in a clash.
On the other hand, Jamaat-e-Islami workers protested in front of the Federal Urdu University on University Road. They set the tires on fire and suspended the traffic.

The Election Commission, taking notice of Jamaat-e-Islami’s request in the local body elections, fixed the cases related to 6 Union Councils for hearing on January 23.
Murad Ali Shah’s contact with Hafiz Naeem Ur Rehman
On Wednesday, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah contacted Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi Amir Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman by telephone and assured him to remove the concerns over the election results.
Syed Murad Ali Shah told Hafiz Naeemur Rahman that Jamaat-e-Islami has problems with the Election Commission and will contact the authorities and resolve the complaints.

The message of Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Ali Zaidi
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader and former federal minister Ali Zaidi announced yesterday that PTI workers will hold protests outside various DRO offices in Karachi from Thursday. He said the results are changing.
Ali Zaidi said that stones were pelted on the PTI workers by regular planning, as a result of which two journalists were injured in Dost, which we strongly condemn.
