Saeed Ghani wins defamation suit against NewsOne, Dr Shahid Masood

KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) central leader Saeed Ghani has won an Rs10 million defamation suit against a private television channel NewsOne and its former host Dr Shahid Masood.

The additional district and sessions court South has given its ruling in the favour of Saeed Ghani in a defamation suit filed against NewsOne and its former host Dr Shahid Masood.

The court directed the private channel to pay Rs10 million compensation to Saeed Ghani for broadcasting defamatory remarks against the PPP leader in November 2017.

In his suit, Ghani stated that Dr Shahid Masood’s statement against him was motivated by personal prejudice and an attempt to damage his reputation.

After hearing the arguments, the court decreed against the defendants and directed them to pay the compensation worth Rs10 million to Saeed Ghani.
