Shabbar Zaidi criticises PM Shehbaz Sharif’s indecisiveness

Former FBR chairman Shabbar Zaidi slammed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for showing indecisiveness over steps to start stabilising economy.

Former chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Shabbar Zaidi has slammed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for showing indecisiveness over steps to start stabilising the economy.

Shabbar criticised that PM Shehbaz Sharif had complained about hefty expenditures on imports of oil and gas in Pakistan. He said that PM Sharif already told that the nation could not afford over $25 billion in import of energy.

Censuring PM’s indecision, Zaidi said that despite knowing the facts, the premier did not announce steps for the conservancy of energy. In his Twitter message, the former FBR chairman said that the worst energy abuse could be seen in the markets and commercial centres for not using the daylight.

He suggested that markets should be closed by 6:00 pm. He added that all cars with above 2000CC engines are out on road for half of the week.

Yesterday, Shabbar Zaidi gave a suggestion to the present government for saving the national economy.

He wrote on Twitter that after the ECP’s decision on Punjab Assembly for saving the economy only solution is to decide the dissolution of the assemblies immediately by PM Shehbaz Sharif. He said that the caretaker government could not present the budget but it will complete appropriations.

Zaidi added that the newly-elected government should present the budget when installed and it will deal with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

The former FBR chairman said, “In Pakistan’s politics it is almost impossible to run the federal government with opposition in Punjab Govt. With the present party position, there will be no stability in Punjab so no stability in the federation. Even otherwise this kind of coalition cannot work in Pakistan. Immediate election.”

He said in another tweet, “Rupee $ parity slide will not stop unless there is medium to long term policy for current account. Only IMF support can save us. This needs a government responsible for 5 years. Beyond political affiliation, this is an economic, not a political issue. Govt to resign before the budget. Save economy.”
